About Las Vegas Water Softener Co.

A local team focused on one problem: the valley's very hard water.

Home › About

We are a local water treatment company serving the Las Vegas valley, focused on one problem: water that runs about 17 grains per gallon from Lake Mead. We size systems to the household, explain the options plainly, and install cleanly — softener installation and repair, filtration, reverse osmosis, and salt service.

Here is how we work and what to expect when you call.

What do we actually do?

We handle residential water treatment across the valley. That means diagnosing what is wrong with your water, recommending equipment that fits the home rather than the largest unit available, and installing it so it can be serviced later without tearing anything apart.

How do we approach a job?

  1. Listen first. What you are noticing at the fixtures usually identifies the problem.
  2. Look at the space. Loop, main line, drain, outlet, clearance for service.
  3. Size to the household, using the 17-grain hardness load and your peak demand.
  4. Quote in writing, naming equipment and included work.
  5. Install and walk you through it — salt, bypass, normal operating sounds.

What we will not do

  • Sell a salt-free conditioner as a softener — they do different things
  • Oversize a system to raise the invoice
  • Quote before seeing the installation space
  • Recommend replacement when a repair is the better value

Frequently asked questions

Do you have a showroom?

We don't have a showroom. We are a service-area business — we travel to your home and do not operate a walk-in office.

What brands do you install?

We install and service the common residential brands and choose equipment based on your household demand and plumbing rather than a single manufacturer relationship.

Which utility actually bills me for the water?

It depends where you are. Most of the valley — the city of Las Vegas plus unincorporated Clark County — is Las Vegas Valley Water District territory. Henderson and North Las Vegas each run their own city utility, and Boulder City bills through Boulder City Utilities. All of them are Southern Nevada Water Authority members drawing the same treated Lake Mead supply, so the bill changes and the hardness does not.

Is 17 grains actually hard, or is that a sales line?

It is hard by the published scale, not by ours. The USGS classification puts anything above about 10.5 grains per gallon in its top category, and the valley runs around 17. That is why scale returns on fixtures within days of cleaning them here and not in most of the country.

Why focus only on water treatment?

The valley has one dominant water problem and it is measurable: about 17 grains per gallon of hardness coming off the Colorado River. Specializing means we have seen the same failures hundreds of times — the bridged salt tank that looks full, the resin that gave out at year nine, the filter installed downstream of the softener where it does the least good.

A general plumber can install a softener. Someone who installs them every week will size it correctly and put it somewhere you can still service in five years.

What does a fair recommendation look like?

It starts with what you are experiencing rather than what is on the truck. Scale and spotting mean hardness. A chlorine smell means carbon. Bad-tasting drinking water means reverse osmosis. Those are three different products, and conflating them is how people end up with expensive equipment that does not solve their complaint.

Sizing follows the same logic: household size, bathroom count, peak demand, and the hardness load — not the largest unit available.

What should you expect on the day?

  • Arrival in the scheduled window, with a call ahead
  • Floor protection and a tidy work area
  • Organized plumbing with an accessible bypass so the unit can be serviced later
  • A full leak check under pressure before we leave
  • A walkthrough covering salt, bypass operation, and what normal sounds like

What if something goes wrong afterward?

Call us. Equipment fails occasionally and installations sometimes need adjustment. The same local team that did the work handles the follow-up, and we would rather fix something at no drama than have you calling someone else.
